14 Jun Surgical Orthodontics
Alleviate bite problems or facial esthetic concerns that cannot be properly corrected with braces alone. In cases where the skeletal foundation of the jaw is significantly out of facial harmony with the rest of the face and head, orthodontic correction, alone, may not be enough to restore the necessary harmony and function of a healthy bite, or even an ideal facial profile. In these cases, we sometimes rely on the assistance of an oral surgeon or, sometimes, plastic surgeon to help provide a more balanced skeletal and facial foundation.
Braces are needed because surgery by itself is usually not possible in fully resolving the fit and function of properly functioning jaws. We make every effort to avoid jaw surgery, but in some cases, it can be very effective in achieving the most desirable results.
