Palatal Arch

See also:

This appliance is similar to the lingual arch, only it is used on the upper teeth to control overjet (forward position of upper teeth) and arch width. In cases where the goal is to prevent having to extract teeth while keeping a correct bite, the palatal arch is especially useful and necessary by preventing upper back teeth from moving forward. It can also be used to buttress the upper arch following therapy with RPE (upper jaw widening).
